Hearing aids don’t work well in noisy environments or in a group/crowd.

Research and technological advances have enabled significant developments in the performance of hearing aids. A performant aid will continuously analyze the sound it receives and manages to separate conversation from background noise. You get to enjoy clear and comfortable conversation in all situations.

I tried a friend’s hearing aid and it didn’t help. I don’t need hearing aids.

A hearing loss is unique to each individual. Someone else’s hearing aid is specifically adapted to their hearing and will most likely not be suitable for yours.

A comparison can be made with glasses: One’s glasses will not be adapted to the sight of another person. For more information on hearing aids: Hearing Aids

Hearing aids whistle.

A hearing aid should only whistle in two situations: as it is inserted in the ear, and when a hand blocks it completely. Otherwise, no whistling should disturb the hearing aid user.

My hearing is not as sharp as it used to be. I must have earwax building up.

An earwax accumulation must be very severe to causes hearing loss. Unfortunately, most cases of hearing loss are not related to an accumulation of earwax.

One hearing aid will be enough for me.

If it were the case, humans would only have one ear, right in the middle of their forehead! Two ears allow for localization of sounds, understanding in a noisy environment and a better comfort. You wouldn’t wear half a pair of glasses or just one shoe, right? The same goes for ears.

A minor surgery, like my friend just got, would correct my hearing problem.

Many people know someone whose hearing has improved after a medical or surgical treatment. These treatments are applicable to some very specific types of hearing loss, which are not very common. Unfortunately, most cases of hearing loss are permanent and can not be operated. If surgery is an option in your case, our team will transfer you rapidly to an ENT doctor, the relevant specialist in this situation.

There is no solution to help my tinnitus (whistling or buzzing in the ears).

There is no miraculous treatment, but there are several options available to reduce the inconvenience of tinnitus. An audiologist is the best-qualified professional to help you. For more information on tinnitus: Tinnitus

Nothing can be done for my hearing loss.

Fortunately, that is wrong! Almost any case of hearing loss can be treated with positive results!

I’d rather try to hide my hearing loss than wear hearing aids.

Untreated hearing loss is much more apparent than hearing aids. If you’re the only one not laughing when someone tells a joke, or if you answer inappropriately to a question you didn’t quite understand, your hearing loss will be much more noticeable to others. Modern hearing aids are invisible. They will allow you to enjoy clear conversation, to laugh with others and to chat with confidence.

Hearing aids make me look “old” and “disabled”.

Imagine someone sitting in the corner, smiling and nodding once in a while, obviously not following the course of the conversation because they don’t understand. Now imagine the same person interacting with others, laughing with others, playing with their children or grandchildren, but who’s wearing hearing aids. Who looks the oldest or the most handicapped? Hearing aids do not age you, oh no! They allow you to stay active with others. And if you don’t tell them, no one will notice your hearing aids.
